Location

Navarre’s borders are defined by the reach of the Vale’s wards, which form a roughly circular barrier of protection. Beyond these borders lie dangerous outposts and unwarded zones, manned only by military forces at great risk. Its geography ranges from the Cliffs of Dralor in the south, to the Esben Mountains along the eastern frontier with Poromiel, to fertile river valleys like the Iakobos and Beatha.

Culture

Culturally, Navarre is steeped in militarism and survivalism. Every citizen lives under the shadow of the wards, and service in the military—whether as rider, scribe, healer, or infantry—is considered both duty and honor. Rider culture in particular defines Navarre’s prestige, with dragon riders enjoying the highest social status. At the political level, authority is shared between the monarch and the Senarium, a council of dukes and duchesses who govern each province.

Relevance

Navarre is the western kingdom of the Continent and one of its two great powers, rivaled only by Poromiel. It occupies the entire western half of the landmass and is divided into six provinces, each with distinct geography and strategic importance. For centuries, Navarre’s survival has depended on the magical wards radiating from the Vale, shielding its borders from gryphon raids and venin incursions. Its military might, centered at Basgiath War College, produces dragon riders, scribes, healers, and infantry who enforce Navarre’s dominance and defend against external threats.

Aristocracy

Navarre is ruled by King Tauri the Wise, with succession passing to Prince Halden Tauri and, after him, Prince Camalean Tauri (who renounced his name and lives as Aaric Graycastle). The monarch governs alongside the Senarium, a ruling council formed by the dukes and duchesses of each province. Current known members include:

The Senarium advises the crown, adjudicates matters of law and war, and represents the balance of provincial interests against royal authority.
