Biography

Imogen Cardulo is a rider of the Tyrrish Revolution and one of the 107 marked children conscripted to Basgiath after the rebellion. At around sixteen, she was branded with a rebellion relic after witnessing the executions of her mother and her sister. She later bonded the orange daggertail Glane and developed two signets: memory erasure and petrification. Initially hostile to Violet Sorrengail because of General Lilith Sorrengail’s role in the executions, Imogen became a critical ally—training first-years, coordinating covert weapon drops, and helping lead her squad during War Games and the Battle of Resson.

In Iron Flame, she returns to Basgiath with Xaden’s group, aids the Archives heist, counters Varrish’s regime, and fights at Basgiath’s defense—often serving as Violet’s running/training partner and practical sounding board. In Onyx Storm, Imogen keeps an eye on Xaden after his venin turn, and continues to fight on the front lines. Her sharp tactics and dry humor are paired with a guarded, slow-building tension with Garrick Tavis.

  • Bears a visible rebellion relic (dark, whirring lines) marking her as one of the 107.

Hair

  • Pink hair; at times worn half-shaved and dyed brighter during her Aretia period.
  • Usually kept practical—tucked behind the ear or pinned back for training and drills.

  • Green eyes.
  • Frequently noted with fight-earned marks.

Clothing & Gear

  • Standard black rider leathers with flight jacket and patches denoting year/section.

Powers

Lesser Magic

Like all riders, Imogen can channel lesser magic through her bond with Glane. This allows her to unlock doors without touching them, move with unnatural speed, manipulate mage lights, power ink pens, and place runes.

Signet

Recent Memory Erasure: Imogen’s first signet, classified by Navarre, grants her the ability to erase recent memories. She has used it in covert missions to cover tracks, such as during the infiltration of the Scribe Quadrant and Royal Archives. Leadership is aware of her signet, and like Dain Aetos’s, it can be used in interrogation.

Earth Wielding: Her second signet allows her to turn objects into stone, making her a formidable asset both offensively and defensively in combat.

Abilities

Combat Skill

Considered one of the best fighters among the marked ones, rivaled only by Garrick Tavis. Imogen excels on the sparring mat and is trusted to train others, including marked cadets, Violet Sorrengail, and Sloane Mairi. She is known for her precision, ruthless efficiency, and ability to teach techniques with patience.

Speed

Imogen is second only to Xaden Riorson in speed among the riders, a skill frequently noted during combat. Her agility often gives her an edge over slower but stronger opponents. By her third year, she incorporated endurance running into her training routine, frequently joining Violet for morning runs to push her limits.

Relationships

Garrick Tavis Imogen’s feelings for Garrick are hinted throughout the series, often masked with flirty banter and sharp remarks. While she trains alongside him and teases him mercilessly, her genuine concern during battles and quiet moments shows a deeper attachment. Their unresolved tension grows more obvious by Onyx Storm, where Mira Sorrengail herself urges them to “figure their shit out.”
Quinn Hollis Quinn was Imogen’s closest friend and squadmate. She confided in Quinn more than anyone else and remained with her until the end, refusing to leave her side as she died.
Violet Sorrengail Imogen and Violet first meet on Assessment Day, where a heated sparring match leaves Violet injured and cements their early hostility. Their relationship begins to shift after Threshing, when Violet’s bond to Xaden’s dragon links their fates. Imogen starts training Violet to build her strength, and over time, the two become close friends. By Onyx Storm, they work closely together, watching over Xaden after his transformation into a Venin.
Xaden Riorson Imogen and Xaden share a strong friendship built on trust and loyalty. Like many marked ones, she owes him a life debt for sparing their lives, and he trusts her deeply in return—enough to include her in weapon smuggling operations and to leave her, along with Bodhi, in charge after his graduation. Imogen trains recruits at his request and often teases him about his relationship with Violet, showing the ease between them. Xaden, in turn, seems aware of her feelings for Garrick, whether through observation or his second signet.

Dragon

Glane

Imogen is bonded to Glane, an Orange Daggertail dragon. Known for their speed and ferocity, Daggertails are deadly in combat, and Glane is no exception. Together, Imogen and Glane are a formidable pair on the battlefield, their combined agility and ruthlessness making them a constant threat to venin and wyvern alike.
