Kelpies are ancient, god-made water monsters once feared as river and lake deities. Thought extinct for centuries, they resurface in A Court of Silver Flames when Nesta encounters—and kills—a surviving kelpie in the Bog of Oorid.

Bryaxis is a shadow-born, ever-shifting creature bound to the Night Court’s library, feared for its terrifying, formless mass of claws, fangs, and darkness.

Annis is a cobalt-skinned, iron-clawed predator imprisoned in the Prison. Known for targeting female victims and prolonging their deaths, she nearly killed Cassian during her capture before Azriel intervened.

Lubia is a deep-sea predator from Prythian’s western coast, known for swallowing victims quickly. Her name hints at the seven-headed sea monster of folklore, though her true form is never described. Cassian eventually banished her to the Prison.

Wraiths are an incorporeal faerie species in Prythian, known for their ability to slip through walls, vanish into shadows, and move with near-silent ease. Their ghostlike nature makes them highly effective spies and messengers, often serving Fae courts in roles that require subtlety and secrecy.

Pucas are illusion-wielding fae creatures that lure victims by appearing as what they most desire. Able to take on any form, they use deceptive glamour to draw targets into isolated places before attacking. Their true shape remains unknown, though they are described as beings tied to wind, weather, and constant change.

River-nymphs are graceful aquatic faeries of the Spring Court, known for their flexible, lithe bodies, webbed fingers, and striking blue, sea-like eyes. Though tied to the rivers they inhabit, their culture appears exclusive, rejecting those of mixed heritage such as Gwyneth’s mother.

Water-wraiths are gray-skinned, aquatic faeries with black eyes and jagged teeth. Constantly hungry and struggling to survive, they form a debt with Feyre Archeron during the Spring Court’s Tithe—later repaid when they save her and Amren from drowning in the Summer Court.

Martax are brutal, bear-sized predators in the ACOTAR universe, known for their lion-like heads and multiple rows of razor-sharp teeth. Released into Prythian after Amarantha’s curse weakened the borders, they became one of the deadliest threats to northern villages.

The Tartera are a shadow-wrapped species in the ACOTAR universe, known for their wraith-like bodies, glowing ember eyes, and craftsmanship of rare, powerful heirlooms.
