Biography / History

Early Life

Before the War, when the Fae still enslaved humans, Miryam was born in the Black Land—a notoriously cruel Fae territory south of the Continent ruled by a ruthless Fae queen. The daughter of a human mother and a High Fae father, conceived against her mother’s will, Miryam grew up condemned to slavery like all humans and half-humans in that kingdom.

When the Queen of the Black Land became engaged to the foreign Fae Prince Drakon, she gifted Miryam to him as part of the engagement. Horrified by the queen’s brutality, Drakon helped Miryam escape and ended the betrothal. Fearing retaliation, Miryam fled the Black Land and eventually joined Jurian and the human rebels.

The War

Miryam vows to return someday to free the slaves she left behind. During the War, she serves as a healer in Jurian’s army. The two become lovers, and she grows close to members of the Inner Circle, especially Morrigan.

Three years later, Drakon finds Miryam again after joining the humans. She tends his wounds after a battle, and the two eventually fall in love. Miryam ends her relationship with Jurian and discovers she is mated to Drakon. They marry the same night Jurian kills Clythia.

Miryam is later captured by Amarantha as bait for Drakon, but Rhysand rescues her, losing most of his legion in the process.

Near the end of the War, Miryam, Drakon, Morrigan, and the Seraphim return to the Black Land to free the enslaved humans. They succeed but are attacked while escaping. Miryam refuses to flee until everyone is safe and is struck down by a spear. Although she dies from her wounds, Drakon uses an ancient Cauldron-Made object to resurrect her, granting her a long Fae lifespan.

After the War

Miryam and Drakon let the world believe they died and retreat to Cretea, where they build a peaceful nation of humans and Fae. They later hide the island with a powerful spell. Only the Inner Circle knows they survived.

A Court of Wings and Ruin

At the start of the War with Hybern, Rhysand—desperate for powerful allies—sent Azriel to contact Miryam and Drakon, hoping to secure the legendary Seraphim warriors of Cretæa. But the powerful spell shielding Cretæa prevented Azriel from reaching them.

Later, Miryam and Drakon heard a disturbing rumor: Jurian was hunting Miryam for revenge. Realizing this meant a new war had erupted and suspecting that Cretæa’s protective magic had blocked any call for aid, they gathered their armies. They sailed to Prythian, joined forces with independent human battalions along the way, and arrived in time to reinforce the Prythian Courts. Their combined forces helped hold the front against Hybern until Amren, in her true form, destroyed the remaining enemy troops.

After the victory, Miryam and Drakon played a key role in the renewed peace negotiations between Fae and humans, using their own history as proof that coexistence was possible. At Feyre Archeron’s request, they also removed the Cauldron from Prythian, taking it to Cretæa to safeguard it and prevent future wars over its immense power.

Appearance

Miryam is described as a beautiful woman with long, dark curls, honey-brown skin, and warm brown eyes. She has delicately pointed ears, yet still carries a distinctly human air about her.

Relationships

Key relationships of Miryam
Jurian Miryam and Jurian grow close during the War, fighting side by side in the human rebellion where Miryam serves as a healer. Their shared cause and time together eventually lead them into a romantic relationship. As the conflict escalates, Jurian begins a strategic relationship with Clythia, Amarantha’s sister, to extract information for the human army. Jurian later claims that Miryam supported his actions and understood the necessity of the deception. However, Morrigan suggests that Jurian’s involvement with Clythia—and the hard, ruthless changes it brought out in him—were the true reasons Miryam chose to end their relationship. Regardless of perspective, Miryam and Jurian part ways during the War. Miryam later falls in love with Prince Drakon, who had long harbored feelings for her. The two discover they are mates and are mated and married on the same night Jurian kills Clythia, marking a permanent shift in their lives and alliances.
