Biography
Queen Maraya was renowned for her political choices, particularly regarding succession. She refused all marriage proposals from the Isle Kingdoms and instead named her distant cousin, Viscount Tecarus of Cordyn, as her heir.
In Onyx Storm, Brennan Sorrengail remarks that Queen Maraya hoped the irids might hold knowledge on how to defeat the Venin. In January 635 AU, she and her nobles traveled to Basgiath War College to negotiate peace with Navarre. During her visit, she learned of Violet Sorrengail’s plan to alter the Basgiath ward to allow gryphon fliers to channel inside the wards. After questioning Violet about her motives, she granted her unlimited access to the library in her summer residence, which she described as the finest on the Continent.
Later, Queen Maraya agreed to grant the quest squad the Amelian Citrine, provided they retrieved it on her behalf. General Melgren supported her by offering four dragons and riders to be stationed at Suniva, along with a shipment of weapons. When the weapons arrived, however, the Venin attacked Suniva. In the aftermath, Queen Maraya was reported as deceased.
