Biography
Lilith Sorrengail is introduced in Fourth Wing as the Commanding General of Basgiath War College and the mother of Violet, Mira, and Brennan Sorrengail. A rider herself, she was bonded to the dragon Aimsir and wielded the storm-wielding signet.
Before the events of the series, Lilith fell gravely ill during her pregnancy with Violet, which resulted in her youngest daughter’s connective tissue disorder. Lilith’s relationship with Violet was marked by distance and severity, as she pushed her toward the Riders Quadrant against her natural inclination to join the Scribes.
As Commanding General, Lilith Sorrengail was a powerful and controversial figure. She was instrumental in enforcing Navarre’s military dominance and played a role in capturing leaders of the Tyrrish Rebellion. Though outwardly loyal to Navarre, she was aware of the existence of the venin and the Scribe Quadrant’s manipulation of information, revealing that she possessed knowledge hidden from most citizens.
Lilith’s life ended in Iron Flame when she was siphoned by Sloane Mairi to restore the ward stone and save Basgiath and its inhabitants.
