Biography
King Tecarus was once the Viscount of Krovla and a distant cousin of the late Queen Maraya. Having no direct heirs, he was named Maraya’s heir, a choice many disapproved of at the time.
After Maraya’s death, Tecarus ascended to the throne of Poromiel and currently rules from Cordyn. He possesses the gryphon gift known as “Knowing what motivates someone to give up their treasure,” which gives him insight into others’ desires—an ability he uses both for manipulation and negotiation.
Tecarus plays a pivotal political role: in Iron Flame he holds the luminary device, making demands of the Revolution to secure its use, and in Onyx Storm he upholds his before-made bargains with Violet Sorrengail—sending books, ensuring she has what she needs to fight venin, and using his library as leverage for her cooperation.
Physical Description
He is tall, with dark hair, soft round cheeks, and very white teeth; when he smiles, deep lines form at his eyes and forehead.
Powers
Lesser Magic
Like all fliers, Tecarus can wield Lesser Magic once his gryphon channels through him. This allows him to open doors without touching them, move with enhanced speed, manipulate mage lights, power ink pens, and inscribe runes.
Gryphon Gift
Tecarus possesses the rare Gryphon’s Gift of Treasure-Motivation, granting him the ability to see what drives a person to give up their treasures and revealing their deepest motivations.
