Biography
Burton Varrish served as Vice Commandant at Basgiath War College, specializing in interrogation and using his signet Weakness Reading to uncover vulnerabilities in cadets and prisoners.
He was first stationed at the Samara outpost under Lieutenant Colonel Degrensi. After three prisoners died during his interrogations, he was reassigned and later promoted to Vice Commandant under Commandant Panchek.
At Basgiath, Varrish regularly targeted Violet Sorrengail. He tried to force her to bring Andarna to lessons even while the young dragon was in dreamless sleep. He pushed Violet beyond her limits with extra duties, punished her for supposed failures, and personally interrogated her after she was poisoned—leaving her with bruises and dislocated joints.
His cruelty and misuse of authority culminated in his death when Violet stabbed him through the chest during an interrogation.
Physical Description
Varrish was always immaculately presented, wearing a perfectly pressed uniform with polished boots and neatly combed short black hair. He had a high forehead, a thick head of hair, and a cruel smile that matched his pale, soulless eyes.
Dragon
Varrish and his dragon Solas share a fierce, volatile bond, fueled by their mutual aggression. Solas once unleashed fire upon a squad of bonded riders after Parapet, killing many, while Varrish’s brutality surfaced in the savage methods he used during interrogations. Even after Varrish’s death, Solas remains driven by vengeance, hunting Violet and Andarna with relentless fury.
