Irmgard Stroud

Biography / History

Irmgard Stroud is a medical doctor and vivimancer active in Paladia after the war. She holds authority within post-war medical and scientific structures.

She conducts the initial examination and oversees the medical handling of Helena Marino after Helena has recovered from a containment tank. During this examination, Stroud displays open disdain toward Helena, which intensifies when it is revealed that both women are vivimancers who fought on opposing sides of the war.

Following the war, Stroud becomes head of the newly established science and alchemy department at Central. In this role, she promotes a program intended to address Paladia’s declining alchemist population. The program advocates sponsored births, using scientific selection methods to influence resonance outcomes. Participants are provided food and lodging, and individuals with criminal convictions are offered the possibility of retrial upon completion. As part of this program, Stroud reverses Helena Marino’s sterilisation.

As women are later released from the Tower, information emerges about the program. Abuse and torture are permitted under Stroud’s authority, and children born through the program are subjected to experimentation to study early-childhood resonance development.

Stroud later leaves Paladia and is taken in by Hevgoss, where she is granted immunity in exchange for her research. She is later found dead in a lake in Hevgoss. She is killed by Kaine Ferron.
