The Archives

The Archives lie deep beneath Basgiath, accessed through the Scribe Quadrant by a vaulted tunnel. The air grows cooler with depth, and a massive ten-foot-wide door seals them airtight each evening. Inside, mage lights illuminate endless rows of shelves, marble floors, and study tables where scribes work under strict supervision.

The Archives serve as the central repository of knowledge at Basgiath, containing nearly every book and record in Navarre. Sacred to the Scribe Quadrant, they are guarded with strict rules and nightly sealing to prevent loss by fire. Beyond their scholarly role, the Archives also conceal the Royal Vault—an exclusive collection of rare works accessible only to those of royal blood. Together, they embody Navarre’s dedication to preserving knowledge, secrecy, and control of history.

Entrance	A guarded vault door that locks automatically at seven o’clock each evening.
Main Library	A cavernous hall with twenty-foot-high shelves, marble floors, and ladders; contains nearly all tomes in Navarre, except forbidden works like The Fables of the Barren.
Workrooms and Classrooms	Instructional and study spaces, including a hidden lever that reveals the passage to the Royal Vault.
Royal Vault	A secret, warded chamber accessible only by royals. Holds over five hundred rare works, including the journals of Lyra of Morraine and Warrick of Luceras of the First Six, as well as texts on history, mythology, mining, astronomy, and Tyrrish lore.
