Rothorn Peak
Location: Montesere, on the continent · Chapter 1
Rothorn Peak is the mountain Azriel visits while investigating reports of a powerful magical object. His spies have heard that something long dormant is awakening—and that it may be hidden near the summit.
Azriel arrives to find masked men searching a cave, with deadly windwolves guarding the approaches. His shadows overhear that the object is Made, but whatever the cave once held is already gone.
The search brings together men from Montesere, Vallahan, and Rask. In Chapter 3, we learn that Vallahan’s prince was personally among them.
Why it matters: Rothorn Peak introduces the hunt for a Made weapon and links it to Koschei. The object’s identity and whereabouts remain unknown at this point.
Storr
Location: The Northern Sea, between Prythian and the continent · Chapter 2
Storr is a barren granite island battered by freezing winds and waves. Its main landmark is an ancient round stone chamber, built around a circular table, with a fireplace carved into the shape of a sea serpent’s mouth.
The island serves as neutral ground for negotiations between Prythian and the continental territories. Its neutrality oaths carry magic that prevents visitors from laying wards or magical traps.
Here, Feyre, Rhysand, and Mor meet Vallahan’s royal family and representatives from Montesere. Azriel watches in secret, while he and Feyre check whether their opponents possess a Made object.
Why it matters: The meeting exposes their enemies’ intention to reclaim human lands and acquire a weapon to counter the Dread Trove. Negotiations end without a treaty, leaving the threat of another invasion unresolved.
Thrudheim
Location: Vallahan, on the continent · Chapter 3
Thrudheim is the mountain fortress of Vallahan’s royal family. Built where two mountains meet, it overlooks a village, a frozen river, and struggling farmland.
Known as a golden fortress, it is less magnificent than its reputation suggests. Its pale stone was imported from far away, and scraps of gold leaf are peeling from the façade. A frozen moat and drawbridge guard the entrance, while carved rams decorate its gates.
Magical wards prevent anyone from winnowing directly inside. Azriel therefore watches from the surrounding mountains after following the royal family home from Storr.
Why it matters: Outside Thrudheim’s gates, Azriel overhears the queen instructing her son to find the Made weapon and secure it for Vallahan alone. Their conversation suggests that competition over the weapon could undermine the alliance with Montesere and Rask—an opening Azriel hopes to exploit.
