Spring Court

The Spring Court is one of Prythian’s seven courts, known for its green landscapes and close proximity to the Wall. It becomes central to multiple conflicts in the ACOTAR series, including Amarantha’s curse, Tamlin’s alliance with Hybern, and the eventual collapse and invasion of the Court.

Location

The Spring Court lies directly along the Wall that separates Prythian from the Mortal Lands and shares borders with both the Summer Court and the Autumn Court. Although it has no cities, the territory includes a large village situated less than five miles from the High Lord’s estate. This placement creates a populated center close to the heart of the court, despite the otherwise rural and expansive nature of the region.

Spring Court

Description

The Spring Court is characterized by rolling green hills, dense and vibrant forests, and clear lakes said to be bottomless. Magic saturates the landscape, growing naturally in every hollow, glade, and rise of the terrain. During the period of A Court of Frost and Starlight, the Court is depicted as deteriorating and untended, with its once-beautiful manor crumbling and left unclean, reflecting the wider neglect and decline affecting the land.

Relevance

The Spring Court becomes the center of events in A Court of Thorns and Roses when Tamlin takes Feyre Archeron there after she kills Andras in the woods near the Wall. During her stay, the Court is under Amarantha’s curse, which forces all its inhabitants to wear masks and prevents them from speaking about the spell. Feyre breaks the curse after completing Amarantha’s trials Under the Mountain, allowing Tamlin and his Court to regain their freedom.

After Feyre’s departure in A Court of Mist and Fury, the Spring Court later aligns with Hybern under the influence of High Priestess Ianthe. This alliance allows Hybern’s forces to enter the mortal lands through the Court territory.

In A Court of Wings and Ruin, conflicts inside the Court escalate. Ianthe manipulates sentries, the naga attack the manor grounds, and Feyre uses her daemati powers to expose Ianthe’s actions and kill the Hybern princes Dagdan and Brannagh. Her actions contribute to unrest among Tamlin’s sentries and residents, leading many to refuse participation in the Tithe and consider leaving the Court. The instability ultimately enables Hybern to invade the Spring Court without resistance.
