Bloomsbury shared a look inside A Court of Splintered Harmony on October 14, and there is plenty to zoom in on. The new ACOTAR map adds names across Prythian and the continent, from Windhaven and Sangravah to The Thorn-Wood and Koschei’s Lake.
Some are places we already know from the books. Others give us new corners of the world to explore ahead of the next release.
The continent is especially worth a closer look. Alongside Koschei’s Lake, the updated map names mountain ranges, an island and territories beyond the familiar outlines of Vallahan, Montesere and Rask.
Spoiler warning: This article discusses locations and unresolved storylines through A Court of Silver Flames.
What Has Been Added to the ACOTAR Map?
The additions fall into two groups: familiar places now marked on the map, and further names that expand the landscape. Here is what stands out compared with the map from A Court of Silver Flames.
| Area | Additional locations |
|---|---|
| Night Court | Ramiel, Windhaven, Sangravah and The Sleeping Mountains |
| Central Prythian | The Middle |
| Near the Winter Court | Anemon Mountain |
| Autumn Court | The Thorn-Wood |
| The continent | Koschei’s Lake, Rothorn Peak, Thrudheim, Fomoria, Helbronn Mountains and Open Fae Lands |
| Off the continent’s western coast | Storr |
Familiar Locations and Newly Labeled Areas
The Night Court gets several recognizable additions, while The Middle finally receives its own label. These are places with history for the characters—and, in some cases, for readers who remember exactly what happened there.
Ramiel, Windhaven and Sangravah
Ramiel, Windhaven and Sangravah now appear by name on the map. For anyone returning to the series after A Court of Silver Flames, the first two will be particularly familiar from the Illyrian storyline.
Sangravah has a different connection: it is the temple associated with Gwyn’s past. Seeing its position alongside the other named locations helps place that part of her history within Prythian.
The Sleeping Mountains in the Night Court
The Sleeping Mountains are labeled across the range within the southern part of the Night Court. Alongside Ramiel and the Illyrian Mountains farther north, they give the court’s mountainous landscape more definition.
The Middle Now Has Its Own Label
We already knew where to find The Middle. Earlier maps marked Under the Mountain and the Weaver’s Cottage within the region, making its location recognizable.
The updated version adds the name of the region itself. Readers can now see The Middle on the map alongside the landmarks that made the area familiar.

Anemon Mountain and The Thorn-Wood
Prythian also gains two intriguing names: Anemon Mountain and The Thorn-Wood.
Anemon Mountain appears near the western side of the Winter Court, close to the Summer Court border. The Thorn-Wood sits in the Autumn Court, north of the Forest House.
The Thorn-Wood is the addition that catches our attention here. With so much unfinished business surrounding the Autumn Court and the Vanserra family, another named setting in that territory is an inviting starting point for theories.
Anemon Mountain draws the eye toward a less explored part of Prythian. It gives readers another mountain to watch for beyond the better-known peaks of the Night Court.

Koschei’s Lake Finally Appears on the Map
Koschei’s Lake is the addition we keep coming back to. We have heard about it through one of the series’ biggest unresolved threats. Now we can place it on the continent.
The lake is tied to Koschei’s confinement, while Vassa’s story gives us a personal connection to his power. Its inclusion brings that distant threat into sharper geographical focus.
On the updated map, Koschei’s Lake lies inland, south of the Helbronn Mountains. Those surrounding mountains are named too, giving us more of the landscape around him.
A journey toward the lake would take the story beyond the courts we know best. With Koschei still part of the unfinished business heading into A Court of Splintered Harmony, this is the part of the map we will be watching most closely.

A Closer Look at the Continent’s Other Additions
There is more to examine beyond the lake. Rothorn Peak appears in the northwest near Montesere, Thrudheim is marked in the northern part of the continent, and Fomoria lies farther east.
The Helbronn Mountains stretch across the interior, with Open Fae Lands labeled farther south. Offshore, Storr adds a named island along the western coast.
Taken together, these additions make the continent easier to picture as a landscape of its own: mountains, forests, inland waters and places separated by more than the sea between it and Prythian.
What We’re Watching for in the Next ACOTAR Book
The continent is the most exciting part of this update for us. The familiar names in Prythian help connect the map to scenes we have already read; the additions across the sea invite us to look ahead.
Koschei’s Lake is the strongest link between that expanded geography and an unresolved conflict. If the next story brings us closer to him, we now have a clearer picture of where that could lead.
Then there is The Thorn-Wood, tucked into the Autumn Court, and the new names scattered across the continent. Which will we recognize from a scene by the time we finish A Court of Splintered Harmony?
