Location
The Town House is located in Velaris, in the Night Court. It serves as Rhysand’s private in-city residence and is reserved for him and his Inner Circle. Positioned within one of Velaris’s residential districts, it functions as the main household where the Inner Circle gathers when they are not at the House of Wind.
Description
The Town House features a wood-and-marble antechamber with a front door and an ornate inner door of carved wood and fogged glass. Inside, the foyer is lined with wood paneling, artwork, and an ornate red carpet. To the left lies a sitting room with a black marble fireplace, worn but elegant furniture, and bookshelves built into every wall. To the right is the dining room, centered around a long cherrywood table large enough for ten. A slender hallway leads to additional rooms and the kitchen, while a wide oak staircase climbs to the upper floor.
Upstairs, Feyre’s bedroom is a warm, sunlit space overlooking a walled garden with a stone fountain. The room is furnished in rich wood and soft white tones, with a massive cream-and-ivory bed, an armoire, and a rosewood writing desk. The adjoining white-marble bathing room holds a claw-foot tub and windows facing the cypress trees beyond the garden wall. The Town House also has a small rooftop garden with shrubs, an iron table, and two chairs.
Relevance
The Town House becomes Feyre Archeron’s main home in Velaris throughout A Court of Mist and Fury and A Court of Wings and Ruin. It serves as her safe space while she adjusts to her new powers, her bond with Rhysand, and her role within the Night Court. Rhys brings Feyre here the first night she arrives in Velaris to meet the Inner Circle, several of whom—Mor, Cassian, and Azriel—live in the house when they are in the city.
The Town House functions as an informal headquarters for the Inner Circle. Many of their early strategy meetings against Hybern take place here, including discussions about the Cauldron, the Wall, and the threat Hybern poses to Prythian. It also serves as a recovery space when members of the Night Court return injured or exhausted; Feyre, Cassian, Azriel, Lucien, Nesta, and Elain all rest or heal in the Town House at different points in the series.
After Nesta and Elain are Made in the Cauldron, Mor brings them directly to the Town House. Their earliest days as newly High Fae—marked by shock, fear, and physical weakness—take place within its walls before they later move to the House of Wind. The Inner Circle frequently gathers here for meals, conversations, and planning sessions when they are not working from the House of Wind. The rooftop garden offers a private retreat for Feyre and Rhysand, especially during moments when they step away from conflict or emotional strain.
In A Court of Frost and Starlight, the Town House continues to be the Night Court’s central holiday gathering place, hosting the Winter Solstice celebrations, gift-giving, and family moments.
By A Court of Silver Flames, the River House becomes the primary residence of Rhysand and Feyre.
