Biography / History
Early Life
Isaac Hale was born the eldest son in a family of farmers. Although his father is considered the wealthiest farmer in their village, their standard of living is only marginally better than that of the other families.
When the Archerons lose their fortune and move to the village, Isaac befriends Feyre. Their friendship eventually turns physical, and they begin meeting in a barn for sexual encounters that continue for years. Because Feyre cannot afford it, Isaac is the one who takes a contraceptive brew to prevent pregnancy.
After one of their meetings, Isaac tells Feyre that he is getting married. She briefly considers asking him to continue seeing her in secret but ultimately chooses not to.
A Court of Thorns and Roses
Isaac sees Feyre in the village market when she arrives with her sisters, Nesta and Elain, to sell the wolf and doe skins she hunted. After she completes the sale, Isaac silently signals her toward the barn, where they meet for their usual encounter. This ends up being their final time together, as Feyre is taken to Prythian by Tamlin later that day.
When Rhysand’s arrival at the Spring Court forces Tamlin to reassess Feyre’s safety, he sends her back to her family under a glamour that makes them believe she has been caring for a dying aunt. Feyre later learns that Tamlin restored her family’s wealth and status during her absence.
On one of her visits back to the old village to distribute gold and silver to the poor, Feyre crosses paths with Isaac and his new wife. Isaac greets her with a surprised but respectful nod.
