Location
Illyria is the northern region of the Night Court, occupying the rugged mountain territories where the Illyrian warrior clans live and train. This area includes the Illyrian Mountains and the remote war-camps scattered throughout the range, forming the homeland of the Illyrian people.
Description
Illyria is a rugged region defined by vast steppes and sweeping mountain ranges that shape the lifestyle and culture of its warrior population. Scattered throughout its harsh terrain are multiple Illyrian War-Camps, where warriors live, train, and uphold their military traditions. The region also contains the Illyrian Mountains, including Ramiel, the peak that serves as the site of the Blood Rite.
Relevance
Illyria became part of the Night Court when Prythian was divided into seven territories under the first High Lords. It is home to the Illyrians, a warrior race distinct from the High Fae; they lack pointed ears and possess wings used for flight, leading many High Fae to classify them as Lesser Fae. Illyrian society is highly militaristic, and its traditions include the practice of clipping female wings to limit their mobility and keep them from combat. Cassian serves as the General Commander of the Illyrian armies and oversees their training and defenses.
