Biography / History
History with the Lady of the Autumn Court
During the War, Hybern’s forces attacked the Lady of the Autumn Court’s estate. Her two sisters—who loved her deeply—sacrificed themselves to buy her enough time to escape. She ran, but Hybern’s beasts eventually cornered her on a ravine ledge.
Helion found her there and killed the beasts with his bare hands, rescuing her from certain death. This encounter marked the beginning of an on-again, off-again affair that would last for decades, starting with a chance meeting at an equinox ball a year before her marriage to Beron.
At the time of her rescue, she was still young, though she had already been married to Beron for nearly twenty years. Rumors suggested that her family had pushed her into the marriage for political power and that she had not been given a choice.
The affair ended when Beron eventually discovered it. According to Helion, the Lady of the Autumn Court had once been bright and joyful, but Beron’s cruelty—emotional and physical—changed her over the years. When asked why he did not intervene further, Helion stated that Beron was a High Lord, she was his wife, and under Prythian’s strict protocols, interference rarely ended well for anyone involved.
Helion has never revealed to Beron that he saved her life during the War.
A Court of Thorns and Roses
Helion, High Lord of the Day Court, is present Under the Mountain, watching Feyre’s trials. When Amarantha kills Feyre after the third task, Helion is one of the seven High Lords who contribute their power to remake her into High Fae, restoring her life and freeing Prythian from Amarantha’s curse.
A Court of Wings and Ruin
As war with Hybern looms, Rhysand summons all High Lords; Helion’s attendance is uncertain due to strained relations between the Day and Night Courts. During the High Lords’ Meeting at the Dawn Court, he presents himself as cold, aloof, and politically cautious—often glancing toward the Lady of the Autumn Court.
After the formal meeting, Helion visits the Night Court’s rooms and immediately drops the façade, revealing his true nature: charismatic, flirtatious, and warm. He openly jokes with the Inner Circle and reveals a longstanding attraction to Cassian, Azriel, and Mor. Through his conversation with Feyre and Rhys, it becomes clear—though unspoken—that Helion is the biological father of Lucien, a truth Helion himself does not know.
Rhys later sends Helion to secure an alliance with the Weaver (Stryga) on his behalf. While traveling through the Middle, Helion finds Feyre mourning the Suriel and offers to cremate the body, giving his cloak to honor it. He fights in the final battle against Hybern, unleashing a devastating beast-form made of sunlight and flame.
After the war, Helion attends Feyre’s meeting at the ruins of the Archeron estate to help renegotiate the treaty between Fae and mortals.
A Court of Silver Flames
Helion arrives at the Hewn City for a meeting with the Inner Circle riding Meallan, a magnificent pegasus—his compromise after Rhys forbids him from arriving in an elaborate golden chariot. He offers Feyre a ride, which she declines due to her pregnancy.
Later, Helion travels to Velaris at Rhysand’s request to weave protective spells around the Mask, using his Day Court magic to reinforce safeguards around the Dread Trove.
