Biography / History
The Daglan were an ancient, godlike race who once ruled Prythian with absolute, merciless dominion. For five thousand years, the High Fae lived as their slaves, forced into subjugation and compelled to obey their every command. Any attempt at rebellion was crushed before it could take root.
Though the High Fae appeared to rule over humans, this power was an illusion; the Fae themselves were bound to their true masters, required to pay the Daglan a yearly Tithe of magic that both sustained the Daglan and kept the Fae weak.
Over millennia of domination, the Daglan grew arrogant—certain that no uprising could ever succeed. It was this overconfidence that eventually doomed them.
Theia and Fionn’s Rebellion
Among the enslaved Fae were Theia and Fionn, whose forbidden love remained hidden from their masters. While serving one of the Daglan, Theia secretly studied their greatest tools of conquest—the Dread Trove: the Mask, the Harp, the Crown, and the Horn.
The Daglan themselves constantly quarreled over which of them should wield the Trove, leaving these powerful objects unused for long stretches of time. This weakness became the opening Theia and Fionn needed.
In time, they turned the Daglan’s own power against them. The Cauldron, once a relic of creation, had been warped into an instrument of destruction under Daglan control. Even the monstrous beings forged within its depths were ultimately used to help overthrow them.
Through coordinated rebellion, strategic use of the Trove, and the unity of countless oppressed Fae, Theia and Fionn destroyed the Daglan and ended their long tyranny.
Legacy of the Daglan
Though the Daglan were gone, the scars of their rule endured:
- The monsters they created became scattered across Prythian, many later imprisoned beneath the earth.
- Their artifacts—the Dread Trove—remained dangerously potent, leaving future generations to reckon with the power the Daglan once wielded.
- The memory of their oppression lived on through carved histories, whispered warnings, and the secret lineage charged with safeguarding the truth.
The Daglan’s fall marked the rebirth of Prythian’s freedom, but their influence continued to shape its history long after their destruction.
