Biography / History
Pre-Series
The Bogge is said to have originated from Lanthys, one of the First Gods, making it an ancient and malevolent creature predating modern Prythian lore. During Amarantha’s occupation of Prythian, she unleashed numerous horrors across the Courts to instill fear and maintain control—among them was the Bogge.
A Court of Thorns and Roses
A Bogge manifests in the Spring Court while Feyre Archeron and Lucien Vanserra are out hunting. Feyre senses its oppressive, malicious presence as it calls to her, but Lucien urgently warns her not to look at it, as acknowledging the creature allows it to take physical form and kill its target. By refusing to meet its gaze, Feyre resists the creature, and it eventually vanishes. Upon learning of the encounter, Tamlin hunts the Bogge through the forest and succeeds in killing it.
A Court of Wings and Ruin
Following the murder of three Children of the Blessed near the Wall—against Feyre’s explicit instruction—the Princes of Hybern, Dagdan and Brannagh, are pursued by the Bogge. Feyre and Lucien send the creature after them, forcing the twins to flee only after prolonged struggle and terrified screams.
Appearance
The true appearance of the Bogge remains unknown, as the creature only gains physical form when someone looks directly at it. Because Feyre never met its gaze, she experienced the faerie solely through its presence and its unsettling voice, urging her to look—an act that would have allowed it to manifest fully and kill its target.
Weakness
The Bogge appears vulnerable to High Lord–level magic and strength, as demonstrated when Tamlin successfully tracked and killed the creature after it threatened the Spring Court.
